Who we are

Worth Asking About is an independent editorial publication operated as a sole trader by Poppy Spiegelberg. For the purposes of UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, Poppy Spiegelberg is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

What we collect

  • Account data — your email address and an encrypted password (or the identifier returned by a sign-in provider you choose to use).
  • Activity data — the labels, edits and pieces you save, and your membership status.
  • Technical data — approximate country (derived from your connection, used only to show prices in your local currency), browser type and pages viewed.
  • Correspondence — anything you send us by email.

We do not collect special category data, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.

Payment data

Paid membership is not yet live. When it launches, payments will be handled by a third-party payment provider acting as merchant of record. Card details are entered on the provider's systems — we never see or store your full card number. We will only receive confirmation of your subscription status.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • Contract — to create your account, give you access to member content and manage your membership.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, prevent abuse, and improve what we publish.
  • Consent — for any optional email updates. You can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — to keep records required by tax and accounting law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data and we take no commission on any purchase you make through links on this site. We share data only with the service providers that make the site work: our hosting and database provider, our authentication provider, our exchange-rate provider (country-level only) and, in future, our payment provider. Each acts on our instructions under a data processing agreement. Some providers may process data outside the UK/EEA under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Account and saved-item data is kept while your account is open, and deleted within 30 days of you closing it. Records needed for tax purposes are kept for six years, as required by law.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your personal data, and the right to data portability. To exercise any of these, email hello@worthaskingabout.com. We will respond within one month.

If you are unhappy with our response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to your local supervisory authority if you are in the EU.

Cookies

We use only the cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in and to remember your display currency. Read more on our cookie policy.
